- EU membership considerations
In the last decade Croatia became one of the most popular cruising
areas of the Mediterranean see. Thousands of boat owners, especially
from the central European countries, have their yachts harbored
in the Croatian marinas. It is easy to get there by many low cost
air carriers. Even with a car there is, there is, for instance,
no longer the 6-7 hours driving from Munich.
It was also convenient that Croatia was not member of the
EU, hence, yacht could sail under their domestic flags although
EU tax was not paid. Once Croatia is member of EU it will change. |

Croatia is scheduled to join the EU in 2013 and all private yacht
owners should choose between paying EU tax or moving their yachts
out of the EU waters.
Needless to say, this could be great economical challenge for many,
end many will set their yacht for sale, some, for really favorable
price.
Charter fleets renewal: :
- Croatia has one of worlds most developed yacht charter industries.
Charter companies prefer to have newer boats in their fleets and
sets boats, older then 5 year for sale. |
